As I’ve shared many times this summer I’m always on the hunt for basil recipes. This Basil Salt recipe was pure genius! I’m a sucker for a little salt finish on so many things I eat and this basil version was extremely flavorful. The recipe is quite simple and quick but requires a few days of drying once you pulse the mixture in a food processor. This recipe yields roughly 1 cup of basil salt. It’s a great salt to sprinkle on chicken, veggies or even eggs. You can store in a tightly sealed container for several weeks.
- 3 cups basil
- ½ cup kosher salt
- 3-4 garlic cloves
- Place 3 cups of loosely packed basil, ½ cup kosher salt and 3-4 garlic cloves in a food processor. Pulse to grind. Spread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Leave at room temperature for 3-5 days. When fully dry, process again to form a powder.
